All 'Eye Digest' content has been written by American Board of Ophthalmology certified and US
licensed practicing ophthalmologists. The intent of the authors of this website is
to provide free access to credible information on eye diseases while
de-linking any personal or professional benefits.
In keeping with that philosophy, there is no commercial
activity or advertising on this website. In addition, the entire effort
is on a voluntary basis and no salaries or monies are paid. The website content draws heavily upon
the public domain resources of the National Eye Institute, the Medline database
and published articles in peer reviewed journals. Our aim is to provide evidence-based medical information by careful analysis of
the data in published journal articles. We strictly avoid personal bias
or unsupported opinions.
Our privacy policy is very simple. We do not collect, store, analyze, sell or track any personal information.
Information contained in the website should in no way be thought of as specific
medical advice. You must understand that in all research studies final conclusions
are made by pooling data from many patients. Therefore, while as a generalization
the recommendations serve as useful guidelines and are applicable to a majority
of patients, they cannot substitute the specific medical advice that you will
receive from your physician. There are many unique characteristics for every
patient that influences specific medical decision and management strategy.
For example, while the normal eye pressure is within the range of 12 to 20 mmHg, it cannot be assumed that just because your eye pressure is within the normal ramge,
there is no possibility of you having glaucoma. Some patients
have pressure within this range and still have relentless glaucoma.
Medicine is as much an art as it is
science and the art is learned over several
decades of learning from mentors.
No informational website can substitute for that learning process.
By knowing and researching your condition, you will be an informed
patient and thus would be able to better understand the complicated
medical decisions about your care. We hope that we are able to contribute
to that extent with the information contained in this website.
While we have taken great care to ensure that information in this website is accurate and current,
we would appreciate feedback on any errors that may have crept in.
